Cadogan Clinic offers a wide range of gynaecological procedures which address a wide range of fertility, contraceptive and other gynaecological symptoms.
Our specialist gynaecology team diagnoses and treats conditions that affect your health, comfort and day-to-day life, including heavy or painful periods, pelvic pain, bladder or bowel symptoms and abnormal screening results. Every gynaecological treatment at Cadogan Clinic starts with a consultation with a specialist consultant, who will assess your symptoms and medical history and recommend any appropriate treatments where there is a clinical need.
A Coil is a small device placed in the womb primarily used for contraception, but can also treat heavy periods or provide the womb-protecting part of hormone replacement therapy. Your clinician will talk you through the right option for your health needs. Coils can be removed when they are no longer needed, are due for replacement, or are causing problems.
A Colposcopy involves a magnifying instrument being used by a consultant gynaecologist to look closely at the cervix, usually after an abnormal cervical screening result. It lets us find and monitor cell changes, take a small sample if needed, and treat changes early to help prevent cervical cancer.
Hysterectomy surgery is a procedure to remove the womb. It may be recommended to treat heavy bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, chronic pelvic pain, prolapse, or pre-cancerous or cancerous conditions, usually when other treatments haven't helped or aren't suitable.
A Hysteroscopy is used to diagnose and, where needed, treat conditions of the womb. A thin camera is passed through the cervix into the womb to investigate abnormal or post-menopausal bleeding, recurrent miscarriage or fertility concerns. It can also treat problems found during the procedure, such as polyps, and locate or remove a displaced coil.
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in or around the womb. They can cause heavy or prolonged periods, anaemia, pelvic pain, pressure on the bladder or bowel, or difficulty conceiving. Surgical Fibroid Removal (Myomectomy) treats these symptoms while preserving the womb.
Ovarian Cystectomy is a surgical procedure which removes a cyst from the ovary while preserving healthy ovarian tissue. It is recommended for cysts that cause pain, keep growing, don't resolve on their own, or need testing to rule out more serious conditions.
Pelvic organ prolapse happens when the pelvic organs, such as the womb, bladder or bowel, drop from their normal position. This can cause a dragging sensation, a bulge, urinary incontinence or difficulty emptying the bladder or bowel. Prolapse Surgery restores support and improves function and comfort.
Polyps are small growths in the lining of the womb or cervix. They can cause irregular or post-menopausal bleeding and may affect fertility. They are usually removed during a Hysteroscopy and sent for laboratory testing to confirm they are benign and allow for further treatment where required.
A Vulvectomy surgically removes part or all of the vulval tissue. It is performed to treat vulval cancer, pre-cancerous changes, or severe, persistent skin conditions that haven't responded to other treatment. Your care team will discuss the extent of surgery, recovery and support with you in detail.
For all gynaecological procedures and treatments, our consultant gynaecologists will discuss your symptoms, medical history and health concerns during a one-to-one consultation at our CQC-registered hospital, in Chelsea, London. They will assess your condition and discuss potential benefits, limitations and risks before recommending whether treatment is appropriate and beneficial.
