What is a Neck Lift?

A Neck Lift is a surgical cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and tightens the neck muscles to restore a youthful appearance. There are several types of Neck Lifts that suit different patients for different reasons.

  • Traditional Neck Lift: This removes excess skin and fat and tightens the underlying muscles. It’s a suitable option if you have significant sagging due to ageing or significant weight loss.
  • Mini Neck Lift: This can be effective for those with light lines, wrinkles and a small amount of sagging. A Mini Neck Lift involves smaller and fewer incisions than a traditional Neck Lift and has a shorter recovery time.
  • Platysmaplasty: This option tightens the muscles in the neck and jawline if they have relaxed with age, to give a smoother foundation for the skin to be laid over. It is usually performed in conjunction with a Traditional or Mini Neck Lift.
  • Nefertiti Neck Lift: This non-surgical option uses injectables, like Botox, to relax neck muscles, reduce neck bands, and lift the jawline subtly. It’s suitable for minor sagging and lines and comes with minimal downtime but frequent repeat treatments.

What is Included in the Cost of a Neck Lift?

The Neck Lift cost at Cadogan Clinic includes your surgeon’s fees, facility fees, anaesthetic fees and more. Understanding what your surgical package includes will provide you with clarity on what you are getting when choosing a Neck Lift procedure.

  • Surgeon’s fee: This is typically the most significant portion of the turkey neck surgery cost. A highly qualified, skilled, and experienced surgeon will likely charge more, but this also offers greater peace of mind of a successful procedure.
  • Facility fees: This includes the cost of using the clinic where the surgery is performed. The fees include the operating room and any necessary equipment and amenities to ensure a comfortable experience during the procedure. High-quality facilities that prioritise patient safety and care standards will likely charge more.
  • Anaesthetic fees: Neck Lift anaesthetic fees covers the anaesthetist’s services before, during, and immediately after the surgery to manage pain and consciousness.
  • Medical tests: The cost of pre-operative medical tests to assess your fitness for surgery is also typically included in the neck tightening surgery cost. Tests include blood work, ECGs, and any other examinations deemed necessary by your surgeon to minimise the surgical risks.
  • Post-operative garments: Specialised compression garments, if required after the surgery, to reduce swelling and support healing, are also included in the cost.
  • Medications: The cost of a Neck Lift surgery includes pain management medications and antibiotics prescribed by your surgeon.
  • Follow-up care: You will have two follow-up appointments after your surgery: one with our nurses a week after your surgery and one with your surgeon six weeks after your procedure to check on incisions, remove stitches, and assess the healing process. The fees for these appointments are often included in the total cost of the procedure.

In rare cases, you might need minor revisions or adjustments after the procedure. Your surgeon will discuss the revision policy during your initial consultation.

Are Neck Lift Prices Different Across the UK?

Neck Lift cost in the UK varies significantly based on several factors, such as the location of the facility, the surgeon’s reputation and experience, and the complexity of the procedure.

  • Neck Lift cost tends to be higher in major cities like London and Manchester than in smaller towns and rural areas.
  • Surgeons with extensive experience and a strong reputation in cosmetic surgery typically charge more. Their expertise, as demonstrated in their qualifications, past results, and professional recognition, can significantly increase the cost of your surgery.
  • Private clinics with state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology, and a reputation for high-quality care usually charge more.

What Else Affects the Cost of a Neck Lift?

Beyond the procedural expenses, turkey neck surgery cost is influenced by the exact technique your surgeon uses, and whether other procedures, such as a Facelift or Blepharoplasty, are included. Each additional procedure contributes to the final price.

  • Facelift: Combining a Facelift with a Neck Lift provides a complete rejuvenation of the lower face and neck, especially after significant weight loss but adds to the overall cost. These surgeries are more cost-effective when combined, as common expenses, anaesthesia, and facility fees can be shared. However, the overall cost will be higher than that of a Neck Lift alone due to the added complexity and extended surgery time.
  • Blepharoplasty: The cost of your Neck Lift will also increase if Blepharoplasty is combined to address drooping eyelids or to remove under-eye bags and give your eyes a more youthful appearance. Eyelid Surgery requires delicate and precise work, so combining it with a Neck Lift to remove lines and wrinkles increases the complexity and the cost.
  • Other aesthetic procedures: You may opt for other procedures for saggy jowls, such as Liposuction or Skin Resurfacing Treatments, to complement your Neck Lift. Each additional procedure will add to the complexity and cost of the overall procedure.
  • Customisation and technique: depending on your age and concerns, your surgical plan may involve varied techniques and technologies that may increase the overall cost.

Combining multiple procedures may also impact the recovery process, potentially requiring more extensive aftercare. While the extended care ensures that your recovery is safer, it adds to the overall cost.

It’s crucial to discuss the cost of your Neck Lift with your surgeon so there are no surprises about the expenses. At Cadogan Clinic, our dedicated advisors help you understand the full scope of costs, including any additional fees for aftercare or unforeseen circumstances.

FAQs

While the cost of a turkey neck surgery may vary between men and women, the difference is not solely based on gender. The factors that contribute to the difference in the cost are related to the specifics of the procedure itself, which can differ depending on gender-based characteristics.

For instance, men have thicker skin and stronger neck muscles than women, resulting in a more challenging surgical procedure and potentially higher costs. Men and women are also likely to be looking for different results, which may require the surgeon to use different techniques, influencing the final cost of the procedure.

A Neck Lift is carried out under general anaesthesia. An incision is made at the ears, and the skin of the lower face and neck is lifted. The excess skin is then removed, and the incision is closed with stitches. The procedure is designed to reduce any sagging skin around the lower half of the face and neck. Small scars may be visible, although this is often easy to hide with a concealer and will heal through time.

A Neck Lift will often last between 10 to 15 years and, if maintained properly, may last even longer. An experienced surgeon can tighten the skin and remove unwanted fat deposits to ensure the results of a Neck Lift are long-lasting.

The cost of a Face Lift and Neck Lift together is in the region of £7,000 - £10,000. This will vary from clinic to clinic and depend on many factors, such as the expertise of the surgeon, location, and amount of surgery required.

To recover from a Neck Lift, refrain from intense activities for the first few days after the surgery. It is also essential to keep your head elevated above your heart to minimise swelling and to keep your head straight, refraining from any excessive twisting or bending of the neck. Avoid using ice on the neck, as this can compromise blood flow and ultimately result in skin death.

The recovery time for a Neck Lift is often relatively short, with most individuals being able to return to work after two weeks due to the bruising having subsided and the swelling mostly gone. It takes around three months for the swelling to fully resolve and full results of the Neck Lift to be seen.

There are a few potential risks to a Neck Lift surgery that individuals should be mindful of, including bleeding, anaesthesia risks, infection, numbness, and fluid accumulation. It’s important to note that the chances of these risks are very small, and your surgeon will brief you on all safety procedures prior to the treatment.
