What is FaceTite and NeckTite?

FaceTite and NeckTite are minimally invasive procedures which tighten loose and sagging skin around the face, neck and jawline. FaceTite and NeckTite procedures use radio frequency energy to reduce skin laxity by up to 40%, and many patients continue to see improved results for up to 18 months following the procedure.

Ageing and dramatic weight loss can both cause skin around the face, jawline and neck to lose tone and sag. As we age, the proteins collagen and elastin, which are crucial to the skin's structure, begin to break down and are produced at a slower rate. This causes the skin to become looser, resulting in concerns such as a turkey neck or jowls developing. When a large amount of weight is lost, either naturally or through weight loss drugs such as Ozempic, the skin is not always able to bounce back to its original position. This can result in skin sagging and loss of tone.  

For many individuals, having loose face and neck skin can lead to a loss of confidence and may impact the clothes they choose to wear in certain circumstances. Many patients are keen to find a solution to their loose skin that doesn’t involve invasive surgery or significant downtime. FaceTite and NeckTite are performed under local anaesthetic as a day-case procedure with minimal downtime. Also known as tweakments, these minimally invasive procedures allow patients to continue with many of their normal daily activities during recovery.

What Can FaceTite and NeckTite Treat?

FaceTite and NeckTite can be used to improve the appearance of loose and sagging skin across the face and neck.

Common concerns that people choose to treat with FaceTite and NeckTite include:

• Sagging cheeks: It is normal for the cheeks to sag as we age. The natural breakdown of collagen, elastin and the underlying fat pads results in a loss of support in this area, leading to the skin drooping. FaceTite can be used in this area to lift and tighten the skin, improving the tone.
• Jowls: The skin around the jawline is prone to becoming loose and sagging, known as jowls. This impacts the definition of the lower face, creating a softened appearance. FaceTite can reduce this sagging skin and remove excess fat to sharpen the jawline, improving definition.
• Double chin: Accumulation of excess fat under the chin (known as a double chin) is a common concern and isn’t always influenced by an individual's overall weight, giving a disproportionate appearance to the face. FaceTite and NeckTite can be used to target specific concerns or as part of an overall facial rejuvenation. It may also be combined with other non-surgical skin rejuvenation techniques, such as Morpheus8 or AgeJET Nitrogen Plasma, as part of a wider treatment plan. Other treatment modalities may be performed separately, depending on your concerns and desired outcomes.

How Does FaceTite Work?

Both FaceTite and NeckTite utilise radiofrequency energy to tighten loose skin and reduce excess fat. Radio frequency energy generates heat within the skin, leading to thermal contraction and a tightening of the skin by up to 40%.

The application of heat energy within the skin also creates predictable and controlled trauma. This stimulates the body’s natural healing process. As this is a controlled process, the skin benefits from the advantages of healing, such as increased collagen and tissue remodelling, without the disadvantages of an uncontrolled injury, including the uncertainties of scarring.

The processes involved in FaceTite and NeckTite also break down excess fat, allowing it to be extracted from the face and neck.

Who is Suitable for NeckTite and FaceTite Treatment?

During your initial consultation, your aesthetic doctor will assess whether you are a suitable candidate for a FaceTite or NeckTite procedure. They will discuss your concerns and reasons for considering FaceTite and NeckTite and then examine the areas you would like to be treated.

To decide whether you are suitable for a NeckTite or FaceTite treatment, your aesthetics consultant will consider:

• Your concerns: Patients with moderate sagging and loose skin around their mid and lower face are suitable for a FaceTite and NeckTite procedure
• Your expectations: Although the results from FaceTite and NeckTite can be highly impactful, they may not be as dramatic as what is achievable with surgical interventions
• Your reasons: FaceTite and NeckTite are suited to patients who are looking for an effective, non-surgical alternative to procedures such as Facelift but who want longer-term and more comprehensive results than Injectables can achieve
• Your medical history: You must be fit and well for a local anaesthetic procedure with no contradictions to treatment

FaceTite and NeckTite Benefits

What Do FaceTite and NeckTite Involve?

FaceTite and NeckTite are minimally invasive treatments performed under local anaesthetic. You will be asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of your procedure. This will give you time to speak with your aesthetic consultant and be prepared for your procedure.

Local anaesthetic will be injected into the areas of the face and neck which are being treated. Small incisions are then made in the treatment areas, and the radio frequency probe is inserted to tighten the skin. This is usually painless; however, it is normal to feel a tugging sensation as the probe is moved around under your skin.

Once the treatment is completed, small dressings will be placed over the incisions (no stitches are required), and you will be prepared for discharge. If you require any post-operative medication, this will be provided. You may also need to wear a facial compression garment for a few days after your treatment.

Following the procedure, it is normal for the skin to feel tender and swollen; some patients may also experience numbness. In some areas, bruising may develop. There may also be some small lumps in the areas that have been treated, which will continue to contract and smooth out. Most people can return to work within a week, depending on the nature of their job. Some people may feel self-conscious about the swelling or bruising, so they may choose to work from home during this time, if possible. Exercise and strenuous activity should be avoided for 3-4 weeks, but most other daily activities can be continued as normal.
