For the NHS, Mr Yapa works at St Mary’s Hospital London - a renowned major trauma centre. Here he treats people with soft tissue injuries from head to toe and performs microsurgery and free tissue transfer for the most severe and complex injuries including hand and lower limb injuries. This led him to working in Manchester as a Plastic Surgeon during the 2017 Manchester Arena bombings, an experience he feels was an honour and humbling.

As well as actively working in both the private medical field and the NHS, Mr Yapa is also dedicated to research, continuing the innovation which Plastic Surgery is known and respected for. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and also made presentations internationally for which he has been awarded the Best Investigator Award at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons meeting in San Diego. His research has focused on the study of fat derived stem cells, scarless healing and facial development. He regularly applies this knowledge when treating patients and it has enriched his knowledge and work in fat grafting procedures.

He is committed to raising patient safety standards and delivering the highest standards of care with an honest, kind, and compassionate approach. His passion for increasing the understanding of the medical field led to him appearing in a Channel 4 TV documentary ‘Emergency’.

Mr Yapa is proud to deliver customised, natural results that surpass expectations, and deeply believes in the transformative power of plastic surgery to improve self-confidence and enhance lives.
