How much does a facelift cost?

The most effective way of combating those tell-tale signs of ageing is a facelift. Known in medical terms as a rhytidectomy, this is often an appealing option to those looking to reverse those fine lines that have gone on to turn into deeper wrinkles, but people are often apprehensive about any face lift cost.

What people considering this route are not always aware of is that there are several options when it comes to facelifts and these will have differing costs.

Facelift costs can vary and depend upon the type of facelift that is opted for. For example, the mini facelift cost UK will be different to a traditional full face lift cost. Facelift costs can also vary depending on where you choose to have this procedure carried out and which team of experts are responsible for your surgery. It is reported that the cost of facelift UK can range from a few thousand pounds up to around the £15,000 mark. We’d like to show you some of the facelift options that are available and consider what they can deliver and how much they cost.

Mini facelift

Mini facelift cost in the UK from £8,000 at the Cadogan Clinic in London. This procedure is slightly more invasive than a micro facelift, but still significantly less so than a ‘full’ facelift.

Much like a one stitch facelift, this procedure is relatively new but has gained in popularity due to the lack of extreme invasiveness and a quicker recovery time.

Mini facelift cost UK includes surgery that takes between 1-1.5 hours to complete. It targets sagging skin and can also see the removal of any excess. This is carried out by making small incisions near the ears and hairline with the skin effectively being lifted. This leads to firmer, younger-looking skin. The procedure is ideal for those aged 40-50 who are wanting to reverse the early signs of ageing. This is an equally popular choice for both men and women.

Micro facelift

A micro facelift is also sometimes referred to as a one stitch facelift. When considering the cost of facelift UK, this procedure tends to cost from £6,000.

The one stitch facelift is a relatively new procedure, but it has quickly gained in popularity and this is continuing to grow. This is likely due to the fact that this procedure is hugely less invasive than a traditional facelift.

This procedure is ideal for those aged 35-50 years old and are seeking a subtle improvement to the early signs of ageing. This can see an enhancement to cheeks and the jawline area. It is carried out under local anaesthetic and takes from 20-45 minutes to complete. A one stitch facelift sees a small incision being made above the hairline. A small sliver of skin, fat and muscle tissue is tightened and a stitch is passed through the deep tissue in the cheeks. With this procedure being far less invasive than a traditional facelift, it doesn’t have the same recovery times associated with it.

Lower facelift

Lower face lift cost can vary depending upon the techniques that are used but on average you can expect to see costs of £7,000-£8,000.

This procedure is performed under general anaesthetic and takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete. As the name suggests, a lower facelift targets the jawline and neck areas.

There are two techniques to consider when it comes to a lower facelift: these are cervicoplasty and platysmaplasty. The first of these focuses solely on the removal of excess skin while the second tightens and sculpts underlying muscle. Sometimes these techniques can be combined and this will obviously have an impact on the cost. A lower facelift can achieve great results as a standalone treatment, but the best results can be fully appreciated when it is combined with a traditional facelift.

Traditional facelift

Full facelift cost can vary but in the UK it is not uncommon to be in the region of £10,000 - £15,000.

Each facelift is individualised so costs can be below this, but can also exceed. This type of surgery is significantly more invasive than micro facelifts and mini facelifts and takes anywhere between 2 and 3 hours to complete.

A full facelift will target deep folds and wrinkles and improve your face as a whole. It is carried out by making a long incision that starts at the temple and curves around the ears and hairline. It works by tightening underlying muscles and also eliminates excess facial fat.

Why does the cost of facelifts vary by technique?

Facelift cost UK vary as each technique requires a differing level of invasiveness and surgical complexity during the procedure and aftercare. Whereas some facelift options can be carried out under local anaesthetic, or sedation, a traditional facelift requires the use of general anaesthetic and also has a longer recovery time which will require additional aftercare.

Technique is not the only factor that influences facelift cost. Every patient is an individual and any treatments are tailored to their own needs.
