Dr Susan Mayou speaks with Popsugar magazine about the gel manicures and the health of the nails and hands, a complicated subject. Dr Mayou explains that the risk lies within accumulative exposure; the more exposure you to UV lamps, the greater the risk. Unfortunately, there is not enough long-term research on the safety of the lamps regarding the increased risk of skin cancer and therefore Dr Mayou advises to limit gel manicures to special occasions.
