Liposuction is an ideal solution to help eliminate stubborn pockets of fat in areas like the stomach, which is one of the most popular places for both women and men to be treated. If you are struggling to lose layers of belly fat, despite hours of exercising and healthy eating, then liposuction could be a perfect option.

Fat removal surgery to the stomach is performed either under general anaesthetic or under local anaesthetic, and is treated as a day case, so there is no need to stay in hospital overnight. This popular procedure usually takes up to two hours to perform, depending on which area of the body is being treated, and how much fat is removed. A small incision will be made by one of our highly experienced surgeons, to enable a vacuum device to remove fat swiftly and efficiently.

Whatever your personal reasons, the Cadogan Clinic is the leading facility for liposuction. Our expert team of top surgeons understands that your appearance can affect your happiness. As such, each case is handled with sensitivity and complete discretion. You may be wondering if liposuction really works – to put it simply, yes!

Liposuction at Cadogan Cosmetics provides a quick, safe and effective solution for permanently removing unwanted, excess fat deposits from your body.  It is particularly effective in cases where men and women have difficulties shifting stubborn fat reserves in body areas which are hard to reach despite eating healthily and exercising.

Cadogan Cosmetics was founded by Mr. Bryan Mayou, the surgeon responsible for introducing liposuction into the UK more than 30 years ago.  The Cadogan Cosmetics team are experts in performing more liposuction than anyone else in the UK.

It is completely normal to experience minor swelling, bruising and tenderness following liposuction treatment at Cadogan Cosmetics, but this should subside one to two weeks afterwards.  The full results are often not seen until around six weeks post-surgery when the area and incisions are fully healed, with minimal if any scarring, as they are so small.

Your expert Cadogan Cosmetics surgeon will advise you on when you can commence normal daily activities and exercise, but we usually recommend taking one to two weeks off work to recover and you are likely to wear a support garment to protect the area for a short while post-procedure.

Liposuction at Cadogan Cosmetics is a safe and effective solution of permanently removing fat from the body.  It is suitable for fat removal from virtually any part of the body, but popular areas include liposuction to the lower back, inner thighs, upper arms, stomach, chin, hips, abs, knees, loins and ankles.

Cadogan Cosmetics was founded by Cadogan Clinic founder Bryan Mayou, the surgeon responsible for introducing liposuction into the UK more than 30 years ago. As such, he has more experience of the various techniques than anybody else in the country and now heads the country’s leading team of experts in performing more liposuction than anybody else in the UK.

We carefully evaluate all available liposuction techniques and currently offer four: Traditional Liposuction, Bodyjet (Water Assisted) Liposuction, Laser Liposuction and Power Assisted Liposuction.  This enables us to choose the most suitable technique for your condition. After carrying out extensive research into other techniques, including Ultrasound Liposuction, or Vaser Liposuction, the Clinic has abandoned all ultrasound techniques as we consider them to offer no advantages and add unnecessary complications.

At Cadogan Cosmetics we have 30 years experience pioneering liposuction treatments and have developed the best protocols for the best results with lowest level of risk. Whilst there are always minimal risks associated with all types of surgery, we take direct steps to mitigate these:

• We treat all our patients in our own dedicated hospital in which we control and maintain standards to the highest levels.
• All procedures are carried out as day cases, allowing patients to get home to their own home environment and reducing the risk of infection. Our post-operative infection rates are among the lowest in the country.
• We only allow surgeons to practice who have demonstrated a track record of being amongst the most skilled in the country. With carefully selected techniques, we avoid uneven results.
• We avoid techniques such as ultrasound Vaser which can burn the skin and cause collections of fluid (seroma) which have to be drained.
• We provide comprehensive post-operative care at the hands of our expert team of cosmetic nurses.

Tiny incisions are made to introduce the suction tube in areas that are usually hidden to ensure that any small scars are well hidden after surgery. Typical locations include the groin or armpit where they will not be seen. If you are particularly worried about scarring, you are welcome to speak at any time with our specialist scarring nurse who will be on hand throughout the process.

We recommend local anaesthetic where possible as a surgical alternative as recovery can be quicker and prices cheaper. However, we do recognize the decision ultimately must have input on both the doctor and patient sides and as all our procedures can be carried out under local anaesthetic, the choice is yours.

We do not recommend it for larger procedures, as local anaesthesia can be uncomfortable to inject on a repeated basis and it becomes less effective as one comes towards the end of the procedure.  It is the closing stages of the procedure which are the most important in removing the maximum amount of fat and also to produce a smooth result.

We use a variant of the general anaesthesia technique called TIVA (Total Intravenous Anaesthesia) that is delivered by our team of top anaesthetists. Intravenous delivery enables our anaesthetist team to monitor anaesthetic depth more closely via specialized computers to maintain an optimal level of anaesthesia. This means you will wake up feeling much better than with traditional alternatives and ready to go home shortly after.

All techniques of liposuction tighten the skin.  This tightening will be significant where the skin is thin, such as in the neck and arms.  Elsewhere, where the skin is heavier, it will generally be sufficient to take up the extra laxity due to the removal of fat.  In areas where the skin is already hanging in folds, such as the hanging bottom or abdominal apron, these folds tend to remain.  However, where there are folds of heavy fat over the lower back, liposuction can make a very significant improvement.

In extreme cases of fat removal, where the skin is loose, such as the abdominal apron, or where there has been significant weight loss, a combination of liposuction and skin excision may be the better option.

What to Expect

Step 1. Optional Free Consultation

We offer a free no-obligation 30-60 minute consultation with one of our specialist patient advisors to help you decide whether surgery is the right choice for you. The consultation will take the form of a discussion with an expert with over 15 years industry experience in which we begin to understand your objectives and the results you want to achieve.

If you decide to go ahead with treatment, our advisers can give you all the information you require to choose the right procedure and the right surgeon for you. This is also an excellent opportunity to see our facilities and get a feel for the Cadogan experience.

Step 2. Surgical Consultation

The next step is to come in and meet your chosen surgeon at the Clinic. We have assembled some of the best surgeons in the world who will use this time to make a comprehensive medical assessment of you and your condition before proceeding with treatment.

In practice this involves a 30-60 minute consultation in which a detailed assessment of the outcomes you can achieve is made and any questions you may have about the procedure are answered.

Step 3. The Procedure

On the day of your procedure you will be welcomed at the Clinic by your patient advisor and dedicated nursing staff. Following a brief medical check, you will meet with both your surgeon and anesthetist to run through the details of your procedure one final time and answer any last questions you may have.

After the procedure you will recover in the capable hands of your nursing after care team. As we are a day case facility you can expect your recovery to be complete within 2 to 3 hours and able to be discharged from the Clinic the very same day. In some cases patients may wish to stay locally in our exclusive partner hotel the day before or after your procedure.

Step 4. After Care & Support

Our care and support continues in the days and weeks after your procedure with our complimentary aftercare programme. A series of free appointments will be made with your surgeon and nursing team in order to monitor your progress and recovery, as well as introduce you to several scar minimization techniques and bespoke creams to aid your progress.

Access to our aftercare nursing team is free of charge for a full 12 months after your surgery.
