Ultherapy is a non-surgical face and neck treatment that uses ultrasound to lift, tighten and tone loose skin naturally without surgery.
This helps to achieve a fresher, more youthful facial look by lifting the skin on the neck, under the chin, and on the brow, as well as improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolleté.
Ultherapy is often chosen as a precursor or alternative to face or neck lift surgery, or employed to maintain results post surgery.
We have invited a selection of the country's very best consultants to join us at the Cadogan Clinic so that you can be sure that whatever the nature of your treatment, you will be seeing one of the top practitioners in the country.

See Full ProfileUltherapy incorporates traditional ultrasound imaging to allow the aesthetic specialist to see the various layers of tissue and isolate the deep foundational layers to be treated. Ultrasound energy is then precisely delivered to where to boost collagen production in the target area. The surface of the skin itself is not cut or disrupted.
During the treatment, ultrasound energy will be delivered using the Ulthera® System. Depending on where you are treated, the procedure can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Following an Ultherapy® treatment at Cadogan Clinic, there is no downtime. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately without having to follow any special post-treatment measures.
Some patients see an immediate result, but you should expect to see results appear over 2-3 months or even up to 6 months post-treatment. You will be left with tighter, more youthful-looking skin. A facelift without the surgery.

Who Is Suitable?
Cadogan Clinic considers individuals fit for the procedure, if all of the following are true of them:

I have been going to the Clinic for years, and I rate them as the very best place to get cosmetic rejuvenation treatments in London. They have such a great group of consultants, there is always someone highly trained who can see you and make you leave feeling so much fresher and happier with yourself
Am I suitable for Ultherapy?
If your skin is showing the effects of time and gravity, and appears less firm- you are a good candidate for Ulthera. It may be that you have sagging skin on the neck or jowl area.
This treatment also gets great skin tightening reviews for those who want to stay ahead in maintaining their youthful looks, or those who have had cosmetic surgery and want to prolong the effects.
What kind of technology does Ultherapy use?
Ulthera uses focused ultrasound energy below the skin’s surface to stimulate the body’s creation of new collagen. This causes skin to lift and become more toned and tight after a few weeks, making it the best skin tightening procedure.
How does Ultherapy boost collagen?
Collagen is a natural protein found in the body that gives skin its youthful appearance and plumps it up, keeping it firmed and toned. With ageing, collagen production begins to slow down and it loses its elasticity meaning skin starts to sag downwards. Ulthera at Cadogan Clinic kick starts a repair by stimulating the body’s natural response to the heating of the tissues by the focused ultrasound energy, promoting collagen-building. The ideal facial skin tightening treatment.
Is Ultherapy a surgical procedure?
Ulthera is not a surgical procedure despite often being compared to a facelift and does not require general anaesthetic nor any incisions to the skin.
Is Ultherapy a laser procedure?
Whilst lasers usually work on the more superficial layers of skin for issues such as lines and wrinkles or pigmentation, Ulthera works on the skin’s deeper layers to lift and remodel the skin. As the two work on different layers of the skin, it is possible to combine the two for the best skin tightening laser treatment.
Is Ultherapy as effective as facelift surgery?
This treatment is often called a ‘non-surgical facelift’ but our consultants refer to Ulthera treatment as more of an uplift than a facelift. However, it is a great alternative for those not quite ready for the surgical option, or perhaps those who have had surgery and wish to maintain the effects.
What happens during Ultherapy treatment?
Following your initial consultation, when you come in for your face tightening treatment your practitioner will cleanse the area, apply ultrasound gel and use the Ulthera ultrasound imaging device to determine the correct area to deliver the energy. During the treatment, small amounts of energy deposited deep in the skin’s layers may be felt as the collagen-building process is initiated. A face and neck treatment may take between 60-90 minutes, and the décolleté or chest area will take only around 30 minutes.
Is Ultherapy treatment painful?
This can vary from patient to patient, and there can be discomfort whilst undergoing an Ulthera treatment. This is only temporary and is an indicator that the energy is being delivered and collagen stimulation has started. At Cadogan Clinic our expert consultants are experienced in pain management for this procedure and can offer advice for oral medications to make it more comfortable for you. After the procedure you will not feel any pain, and the results will be well worth it!
How soon will I see results from Ultherapy?
After around 3-8 weeks you will start to see an improvement in your skin tone and after a further few months any sagging will be lessened and skin elasticity increased. Optimum results for Ulthera can be seen at between 6-8 months following your treatment.
How long does it take to recover from Ultherapy?
There is no down time required following your Ulthera treatment and you can go straight back to your daily activities, though you may choose to return home if you have taken a sedative for the treatment. There are very few Ulthera side effects but mild to moderate redness and sometimes swelling is completely normal and soon subsides.
What can I expect after Ultherapy treatment?
Following an Ulthera treatment at Cadogan Clinic the skin might become flushed but this redness will subside within a couple of hours. Other side effects may include slight swelling, tingling or tenderness when the skin is touched but again this is temporary and normal. Less common effects after an Ultherapy treatment may include minor bruising or temporary numbness on small areas of skin. You will be able to resume normal activities within 24 hours and also due to strong pain relief which may be recommended for the treatment, it is best to book it when you do not have an event or meeting the next day.
How safe and effective is Ultherapy?
The safety and efficacy of Ultherapy have been established through clinical studies and over 800,000 treatments performed worldwide and has received the European CE mark for non-invasive dermatological sculpting and lifting of the upper face, lower face, neck and décolleté.
What risks are involved with Ultherapy?
The Ulthera procedure has been approved by the FDA and used safely in over 250,000 treatments across the world. For over 50 years ultrasound energy has been used safely in the medical field. Although side effects of Ulthera may include redness, minor swelling and tenderness- this is normal and will subside within a few hours.
How much does Ultherapy cost?
Prices for Ultherapy will vary due to the area being treated and will be confirmed to following an initial consultation. Ultherapy for one area starts at £750.
Why does Cadogan Clinic use Ultherapy for skin tightening?
Ulthera is one of the best skin tightening treatments on the market as it is FDA approved and unlike other lasers it uses ultrasound energy that allows it to bypass the surface of the skin and treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive machine. Ulthera stimulates collagen production in the skin’s deeper layers which results in a significant lift of tissue. Other lasers use light energy which does not reach deeper skin layers so can only treat superficial skin.
