Miss Hawkes is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon with a subspecialist interest in oculoplastic surgery, facial aesthetics and cataract surgery. She is the lead for Emergency Eye Care at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation trust where she holds a substantive NHS consultant post.
Miss Hawkes obtained her primary medical degrees from Imperial College, London and has trained at Harvard Medical School, Boston. She undertook postgraduate medical and surgical training at St Mary's Hospital, London before embarking on a career in Ophthalmic Surgery. She completed Ophthalmic Surgical Training on the prestigious Oxford rotation and spent time at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
Combining her passion for precise delicate surgery and meticulous attention to detail, oculoplastic and cosmetic surgery was an obvious career pathway. She has delivered several international and national presentations, and is now involved with surgical training and educating future eye surgeons. She has undertaken a specialist fellowship in oculoplastic, lacrimal and reconstructive surgery. Miss Hawkes is a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society.
As an ophthalmic surgeon, she is a firm believer in the importance of the functional aspect of cosmetic eyelid surgery. Miss Hawkes is dedicated to promoting eye health and educating the public on lifestyle choices to aid good eyesight.
