Dr. Ruth Birkebaek is a Medical Doctor and Psychotherapist.
She also worked for many years as a Plastic Surgeon, which gave her a wide range of experience of working with people’s dissatisfaction, non-acceptance with themselves and a huge desire to change their body.
"What these patients don’t know is that they cannot change the way they feel about themselves by just changing their appearance."
It was Dr Birkebaek’s desire to help those people making a real change in her lives that drove her to the study of Psychotherapy.
As a Psychotherapist she works with a humanistic approach. She has had training in Transactional Analysis, Integrative Psychotherapy, Jung Therapy, Psychosomatic Medicine and she is also a Master in Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Dr Birkebaek works with adults, teenagers and couples.

Ms. Birkebaek received her medical qualification from “Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública (Salvador-Brazil) in 1989. She subsequently received her Psychotherapy Training from different sources globally:
"Psychotherapy is a large part of my life and not only a profession. It’s a learning process that increases with each new relationship.
I've got a special focus on body image and psychosomatic illness, on how the emotions can affect your body. And how to treat the symptoms your body has created to compensate for the emotional pain."
