Stem cell treatment on hair aims to eliminate fragility and prevent hair loss. It can be applied to anyone who wants to have healthy, problem-free hair.

Hair loss can happen due to a number of different factors. Hair can weaken and become frail as a result of genetic factors as well as age, stressful conditions and effects of cosmetic products. Hair loss in men usually starts on temporal sides and on the top area while in women, after a certain age, the division lines of the hair widens and hair gets visibly frail. Main conditions that trigger hair loss can be physical and emotional stress, health problems like anaemia, polycystic ovary syndrome, hypothyroid, also vitamin B and protein deficiencies, sudden weight loss and drug usage. Stem cell treatment is one of the most effective treatments to prevent hair loss, strengthen the hair and to make it look more vibrant. It is not an alternative to hair transplant operations.

The ideal candidate for this procedure is anybody who is losing hair or shows symptoms of weakening or dilution in their hair or whose hair is dull or lifeless. It is quite common to recommend this procedure to people who have not lost their hair but who simply wish to have healthier hair. This is because the hair tissue rapidly renews itself with the injection of the stem cells on the patient’s hair following the stem cell treatment. Thus, the hair gets more vibrant, strong and full. This method, without any serious surgical operations and any interruption for the patient from their daily routines, enables stronger, healthier hair.

How does the Procedure work?

To apply the stem cell treatment to hair:

+ First, a certain amount of fat is harvested from a section of the patient’s body.

+ The fat is then processed for its cells to be separated.

+ Following this procedure; a local anaesthetic cream is applied on the scalp and the stem cells are injected via the special procedure.

+ After the procedure, the weakness of the hair reduces, the hair becomes stronger and more vibrant and hair loss decreases relatively after the treatment.

The treatment takes place in a clinic and is carried out by an expert team who will apply local anaesthetic creams, this means the patient returns to daily life right after the procedure. It takes 10 minutes to derivate sufficient amount of fat for the procedure from the patient, another 40 to 60 minutes for these fat blocks to be enriched with stem cells and 10 minutes to be applied to the scalp. Therefore, the procedure takes an hour to an hour and a half.

It is not recommended to have stem cell treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

We are wary of giving any drugs or carrying out any, but the most minor procedure during pregnancy and stem cell treatment is no different. The fat harvesting, rather than the implantation, is the minor procedure. In addition, natural hormones are high and fluctuating and this could reduce efficacy.

While the stem cell treatments are completely safe and natural for your body, your chemistry is different during pregnancy and breastfeeding and potentially could be passed on to the baby.

We understand that it may be difficult to hold off on treatment for hair loss while pregnant and breastfeeding. These are emotional periods of your life and although hair may grow strongly during pregnancy, it is shed for up to 3 months afterwards. Don’t panic it should recover over the following 9 months.

Your consultant can walk you through any questions and concerns you might have during this process.

Although there are no research findings on this area of stem cell treatment, it has been observed in clinical procedures that it is effective on pigment loss and there are cases where the procedure has reversed grey hair.
