Esteemed industry publication Aesthetics Journal analysed the annual BAAPS figures, which highlighted an 8% industry decline in cosmetic surgery procedures throughout 2017.
Mr Cavale believes the figures reflect a ‘sign of a healthier and more educated market’ with people taking less profound actions.
In the BAAPS report, non-surgical treatments were cited as a contributing factor to the decline in surgical treatment, speared on by social media. Mr Mayou commented, “A big driver for non-surgical treatments is social media, and this has led to more people seeking these particular types of treatments”
The Cadogan Clinic, bucked the downward trend and experienced a 6% rise in surgical procedures throughout 2017 as well as an increase in non-surgical treatments.
