Is my mole cancerous?

Is my mole cancerous?

May is Skin Cancer Melanoma Awareness Month, so now is a better time than ever to get your skin health and #MoleCheck facts right.

Dr. Anjali Mahto spoke to journalist Lauren O’ Callaghan about the warning signs of skin cancer, and how we should check our skin for troublesome moles. Read more in The Daily Express.

Dr. Anjali Mahto says: “Adults typically have around 10-40 moles on their body so it can sometimes be hard to keep track of the size, shape and development of the moles, but there are ways to determine how at risk you are and if you should book in to get a mole check.”

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Have I ever been badly burnt?
  • Do I/have I used sunbeds?
  • Have I ever lived anywhere hot?
  • Has anyone in my family had melanoma?
  • Do I use appropriate skin protection?
  • Do I have outdoor hobbies?
  • Does my job mean that I am outside a lot?

If you have answered yes to any of the above, it’s time to take action. Consider booking in to see a dermatologist for a mole check.
