Dr Maryam Zamani’s Cryo Facial is one of the latest treatments to help stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, both essential for achieving a youthful complexion and helping with the healing process. A journalist from the Daily Mail reviewed the treatment, giving it glowing results!
Cryotherapy is cold therapy which is administered to the face in quick, 30-second blasts to achieve a glowing complexion, improve circulation and lymphatic drainage.
Dr Zamani first prepares the skin for the cold with a Mandelic Peel to gently exfoliate the skin and remove impurities, pollution and debris to enable the skin to better absorb topical products and for better penetration of the cryotherapy.
Following the peel, laser treatment is administered to stimulate long term elastin and collagen production (and a post-treatment glow) before the facial cryotherapy is administered.
The treatment takes around 25 minutes to complete, there is no downtime and patients can also have in combination with other treatments such as Botox or fillers.
The journalist comments, “Checking my face in the mirror, my cheeks are pink; my forehead so shiny it’s almost reflective. I grin at myself. The lines around my eyes are less pronounced and the skin over my cheekbones looks lifted. It’s as if I’ve used an airbrushing app.”
Collagen is a protein in the skin which helps keep it strong and supports its structure, keeping our skin looking plump. Elastin gives skin it’s elasticity, enabling it to bounce back to the original shape after stretching or moving. A depletion in elasticity and collagen results in the development of age related symptoms such as wrinkles and fine lines, enlarged pores, skin laxity and loss of volume. As we age, the production of collagen and elastin reduces so treatments such as the Cryo Facial are very beneficial in boosting the production and achieving a healthy, dewy glow and youthful appearance.
