Dr Seghers talks “sugaring” with the Daily Mail

Sugaring is the latest DIY beauty trend to be sweeping social media. The treatment involves boiling a solution of sugar, lemon and water to make a paste for hair removal. Dr Seghers warns about the dangers, which can lead to burning, bruising and infected or inflamed hair follicles (folliculitis) if not carried out correctly. Dr Seghers also advises to avoid sugaring on skin where retinol products are used as well as on skin which is broken, bruised or sunburnt. People taking steroids or oral Isotretinoin (known as Roaccutane or Accutane) should also refrain from sugaring.
