Dr Borysiewicz Talks About Oats with Vogue

Dr Borysiewicz Talks About Oats with Vogue

Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Consultant Dermatologist Dr Catherine Borysiewicz talks with Vogue about oat milk in skincare. Oats are the latest buzz in the beauty world, although they have been used in skincare products since the 1930s to naturally treat various skin concerns.

Oatmeal has the ability to soak up extra moisture from the skin and can be a beneficial ingredient when treating acne. Oats also contain saponins, a natural cleanser which helps to remove dirt and oil and gently exfoliates the skin.

Dr Borysiewicz comments, “Oats and colloidal oatmeal have many skin benefits and potential uses in skincare. There is an increasing movement towards ‘natural’ skin barrier-supporting ingredients to combat the effects of modern life on our skin, so colloidal oatmeal will continue to be a useful ingredient.”

People with dry or sensitive skin and those prone to inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis find oats a beneficial addition to their skincare regime, notes Dr Borysiewicz.
