IPL treats rosacea by focusing on the visible blood vessels of the skin. The heat from the light targets the widened blood vessels and causes them to shrink until their visibility is significantly reduced.
When this procedure is performed, special care is taken to avoid causing damage to the surrounding skin tissue. This procedure may cause slight discomfort, however patients are usually able to undergo the entire procedure without an anaesthetic.
