Mr Golchin was educated at Wesley College in Dublin before undertaking his medical studies at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He graduated in 1994 and continued his surgical training in Northern Ireland. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998.

He trained in ear, nose, and throat surgery and passed the Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery Fellowship examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2004 FRCS (ORL-HNS). Developing an interest in all aspects of facial plastic and aesthetic surgery, he was awarded a one-year fellowship at the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. He trained in Sydney with Dr. Martyn Mendelsohn who is a leading Australian Facial Plastic Surgeon renowned for his pioneering work in modern rhinoplasty techniques.
