The Very Best Consultants
We’ve invited some of the very best consultants in London to join us at the Cadogan Clinic. They are supported by an outstanding nursing staff and management teamEssure (Sterilisation)
Female sterilisation is a procedure that has been increasingly popular through NHS, and for the first time, the treatment is being offered privately. This means women can choose to have the quick and painless sterilisation procedure at their convenience, without the need to see their general practitioner or to join an NHS waiting list.
One of our highly skilled consultants at the Cadogan Menopause and Menstrual Clinic, gynaecologist Martin Farrugia, is now offering Essure sterilisation as a “walk in/walk out” procedure. The treatment is a permanent contraceptive solution for women who feel like their families are complete and have made a choice not to have any more children.
The Essure procedure lasts approximately 10 minutes, and it requires no incision or stiches. Because it is minimally invasive, the recommended recovery time is only 45 minutes. After that, female patients can just go home or even return to work. No further recuperation time is needed, and patients experience no post-surgical pain or discomfort.
What Are the Results of the Essure Sterilisation?
During the Essure procedure, soft and flexible micro-inserts are placed into the fallopian tubes using the body’s natural pathways (vagina, cervix and uterus). The inserts contain inner polyethylene terephthalate fibers. Once in place, these fibers induce tissue growth in and around the insert. Within three months, an occlusion or blockage in the fallopian tubes is formed, and this blockage acts as a barrier preventing sperm from reaching the egg.
According to Cadogan consultant gynaecologist Martin Farrugia, is it important that this procedure is now more accessible to women. But before opting for Essure sterilisation, London based female patients should schedule an initial consultation and get all the information necessary to decide whether the procedure is right for them.
“Permanent contraception can make a huge difference to a woman’s life, enabling her to fully enjoy her relationship with her partner without having concerns about unwanted pregnancy,” says Farrugia.
“Essure has been a popular permanent contraception option for women for several years through the NHS but I’m already seeing patients who for personal reasons don’t want to talk to their GP or want to have the procedure at a time and place convenient to them, not when they finally reach the top of an NHS waiting list,” he adds.
Why Choose the Cadogan Clinic for Your Essure Sterilisation?
The Cadogan Menopause and Menstrual Clinic is one of London’s leading facilities for a range of female health issues. Our treatments are offered as day case procedures, providing a safe, quality alternative to hospital-based surgery and allowing patients to leave the clinic the very same day. Some of the other benefits of day-case surgeries is that they include simplified admissions and discharge procedures, less time spent away from family and they can also speed up the recovery process of the patient.
In addition, we work with some of the most experienced and skilled experts in the field, who have been carefully evaluated and handpicked by our Medical Advisory Committee. We want to ensure that our patients receive the quality care and individual attention that they deserve.
