Mr Matthew Long MBBS, MD, FRCOG
Specialities: Menopause and Menstrual Problems
Introduction
Mr Matthew Long has over 25 years experience in managing women’s health problems. He qualified from the Charing Cross Hospital London in 1983 and has trained not only in general gynaecology but also in the specialised areas of menopause, minimal access therapies and urogynaecology. He gained his expertise at renowned centres for women’s healthcare including the Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, the Chelsea Hospital for Women, Kings College Hospital London and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
He was appointed as a consultant in the NHS in 1993 at 33 years of age and also has been involved in private practice since that time. He is fully compliant with the GMC and RCOG regulations on specialist registration and continuing education, and is a member of relevant specialty national and international organizations. He has been appointed by the RCOG as a preceptor for advanced hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery
His main practice focuses on advice and therapies for menopause and HRT associated problems, menstrual dysfunction as well as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Recently he has investigated treating post menopausal women with dry eye symptoms using low dose testosterone HRT in association with Mr Raman Malhotra, consultant ophthalmologist at the Cadogan Clinic.

ResearchMr Long has performed research in several areas of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with published papers in major national and international journals. He obtained his MD using ultrasound technology to predict chemotherapy sensitivity in trophoblastic tumours and was also awarded the RCOG annual scientific prize for this research.
